Come and Visit

Sunday, 26 February 2012

A well-dressed gent with thick greying hair and a polite air, Walker's soft Irish voice, his lack of aggression, the composed expression hiding a gentle smile, ........
Bob Monkhouse about Roy Walker

It was a pleasure to welcome Roy Walker to seventeen71company on one of his recent visits to Hawick.

Well, we have a lot to catch up with, the recent visit of the invading army: ie the English, with their comrades in arms the Scots.   A fantastic weekend was had, Golf: the Scots won....Rugby: yes, you've got it the English won!
Thankfully it was another jolly good weekend, enjoyed by all, with no serious side-effects.

Well at least it wasn't cancelled!

My sympathy really went out to all of those at the Stade de France for the French - Ireland game, waiting for kick-off, when it was cancelled.
"Having witnessed and assessed the rapid deterioration of the playing surface between the final pitch inspection and the scheduled kick-off time, and following consultation with the match official team, both coaches and championship organisers, Pearson deemed the pitch unplayable on player welfare grounds."

Stuart Hogg "The Hawick boy"!  played an absolutely magnificent game on Saturday against Wales. Shame however about the try that was denied, it appears that he regained control of the ball before it hit the ground. But only after Scotland conceded three tries in under 16 minutes!  Final score 27-13 in Cardiff.
And a fond farewell to Dan Parks as he retires.

"Heavy snowfall all afternoon had put the game at risk, and vast swathes of the pitch were still covered in snow throughout the match".
But the Italy - England game still went ahead, and the inexperience of the English team once again proved them a force to be reckoned with.

So we chose a Rose Men's Cashmere Cable Pullover this time, but it also comes in green!

As this weather is quite a talking point, we thought we would look at some of the best ways to keep warm.
     A nice open log fire
     A hug
A 1771co 4 ply cashmere sweater made in Scotland
A wee nip of Turnbull's Scotch whisky
Now put all four together and it will make up for the results of the Calcutta Cup at the weekend!
